Former Union President Was Paid Over $1M from School Funds

For 7-years, former teachers’ union president, Bob Croft, did not teach in the classroom and yet was paid his full salary from School District funds costing taxpayers over $1M.

According to San Dieguito’s current teachers contract, the San Dieguito Faculty Association (SDFA) shall reimburse the district one-sixth of the total compensation twice a year. However, California’s Education Code requires the Teacher Union to reimburse the District for all costs relating to time off from teaching duties by a Union President.

Assistant Superintendent Norton stated, “There is no reimbursement nor does the union reimburse the district for the cost of hiring a substitute teacher to teach Croft’s classes, which has cost the district over $124,000 since 2010.”

Trustee John Salazar implored, “Stop the insanity and have the union head (Bob Croft) either work as a teacher or have his salary 100% (including benefits) reimbursed to the district by the union.”

Put students first by shifting the culture from union to student centered.

Vote Melisse Mossy, Maureen Muir, and Lea Wolf for SDUHSD School Board. Integrity. Transparency. Compassion.

“ Taxpayers and students need an independent representative who will look out for their interests…
a parent of a district student…with fresh ideas.
Lea is an outspoken voice for students and their parents… one of the few that dares to speak out.
Lea has the courage, commitment, and integrity to be a student-centered trustee.”

John Salazar, SDUHSD Board Trustee
