How I made my decision to support school candidate

I was an active representative of the Carmel Valley Community Planning Board for 8 plus years. At the time, I had the opportunity to interact with numerous candidates running in political elections since the 1990’s in Carmel Valley. I normally vote along party lines, unless there is some compelling reason not to.

Recently, the School Board election in Carmel Valley caught my attention. One beautiful Saturday morning several weeks ago, I saw Lea Wolf campaigning outside Einstein Bagels at Del Mar Highlands. I became intrigued after seeing her passionately engage with various people. Shortly after I introduced myself, we began talking about the state of affairs at the San Dieguito Union High School District. Each weekend morning ever since, after grabbing some coffee and a bagel, I’ve taken the time to sit down with Wolf to better understand her thoughts, ideas and plans as a candidate.

Beyond my conversations with Lea, I’ve done some independent research and found Wolf to be entrepreneurial, qualified, and of high integrity. Here’s what I’ve learned:

In addition to Wolf, there are two other candidates running: One such candidate clearly has no new ideas and is beholden to the Union agenda of the San Dieguito Faculty Association. The other is fairly similar with no specific agenda.

Wolf is registered as an Independent with no party preference. She brings fresh ideas and a passion to put students first as opposed to supporting an establishment agenda. The unions have already targeted her as the person to oppose. That should tell you something.

So, my choices are pretty straightforward:

  • A person beholden to Union-first priorities; or
  • An established lifelong bureaucrat with nothing new to add; or
  • An independent, a parent and 20-year resident of Carmel Valley with energy and passion to stand up for our students.

I wish Wolf had been a choice when my daughter attended high school here many years ago. The good news is that Wolf is here today for your student. I hope you can agree with me and vote for Lea Wolf for the San Dieguito School Board. Let’s get some energy and the right direction back in our schools. Let’s shine the spotlight where it belongs—our children!

Our students deserve respect, compassion, and love.

“ Taxpayers and students need an independent representative who will look out for their interests…
a parent of a district student…with fresh ideas.
Lea is an outspoken voice for students and their parents… one of the few that dares to speak out.
Lea has the courage, commitment, and integrity to be a student-centered trustee.”
